King Street

King Street is home to a host of historic buildings, including the Theatre Royal (1766) and Coopers Hall (1743) which are both now part of Bristol Old Vic Theatre, the Llandoger Trow pub (1664) which was rumoured to have inspired Robert Louis Stevenson’s Admiral Benbow Inn in Treasure Island, The Old Duke public house (1780’s) and St Nicholas’ Almshouses (1652). Queen Square lies just to the south of King Street.

The cobbled street has been used a number of times as a backdrop for period dramas like Sherlock: The Abominable Bride and These Foolish Things as well as modern day shoots like The Salisbury Poisonings.
